New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna Wednesday said India has taken up with seven countries the issue of travel advisories warning of terror attacks during the festive season and clarified that they had a “limited impact.”
“Australia, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, UK (Britain) and the US have reportedly issued advisories against India during this year’s festival season. However, it has been noticed that there was limited impact of such advisories,” he told Lok Sabha in response to a question.
Stressing that the government has taken up the matter with all the concerned counties at various levels, Krishna said he took up the issue with his counterparts from Australia and New Zealand during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth last month.
“All the seven countries have brought to our notice that the travel advisories were not based on any intelligence inputs and are disproportionate to whatever perceived threat their nationals might face,” said Krishna.
India had protested against the travel advisories and pointed out that they had the potential to hurt its tourism industry.
