Ranchi : A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator’s son and two others have been named accused in the murder of coal king and Congress leader Suresh Singh.
Suresh Singh was shot dead at a marriage party Wednesday night in Dhanabd district. Pawan Kumar Paswan was caught by the people and he was handed over to the police. Dhanbad police, based on the statement of family members of Suresh Singh, lodged FIR against three people.
The FIR has been lodged against Shashi Singh, Sanjeev Singh and Ramadhir Singh. Sanjeev Singh is son of BJP legislator Kunti Singh. Suresh Singh had fought the 2005 and 2009 assembly polls on Congress ticket and he lost both polls to Kunti Singh.
Kunti Singh’s husband Suryadeo Singh was also a coal king of Dhanbad district. He was killed in 1990s. Both Suryadeo Singh and Suresh Singh families had rivalry over establishing their coal kingdom. Suresh was facing more than half dozen cases including murder.
“We have got some vital clues in the murder. We will soon crack the case,” M.L. Meena, Inspector General of Police of Bokaro region told reporters.
Congress has called shutdown in Dhanbad to protest the killing.
