Berlin : A 27-year-old German Islamist has been arrested for his alleged links to an Al Qaeda-linked outfit, officials said.
The federal prosecutors’ office said Thursday that Halli S. is accused of being a member of a group named the Dusseldorf Cell.
The suspect, whose full name was not released due to German privacy laws, was arrested in the western city of Bochum, Xinhua reported.
Prosecutors said the group was involved in a terrorist bombing plot with targets in Germany.
The cell’s alleged chief Abdeladim El-K and two others were arrested in April.
Halli S. is accused of providing financial and logistical support for the group and attempting to continue their plot after the arrest of other members, said Marcus Koehler, spokesman for the prosecutors.
