Argentina remembers Tagore

Buenos Aires (Argentina) : An Argentine scholar delivered a talk on Rabindranath Tagore and a recitation of his poems were held in this Argentine capital, a city that the Nobel Laureate visited in 1924.

R. Viswanathan, Indian ambassador to Argentina, said Sreyashi Mishra from Kolkata gave rendition of Rabindra Sangeet, Gustavo of Hastinapur Foundation, Argentina, recited the Nobel Laureate’s poems, and Axel Maimone, an Argentine scholar, gave a talk on Tagore and his works.

The programme, held to mark the 150th birth anniversary of the Nobel Laureate, was organised in the garden of Vila Ocampo, the residence of Argentine literary personality Victoria Ocampo. Tagore had stayed there in 1924.
