Washington : US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has no intention to head the World Bank after its current President Robert Zoellick resigns, Department of State spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.
Zoellick announced Wednesday that he would resign from his post June 30 and American media circulated reports that Clinton could be the most possible candidate for this job, although she repeatedly denied it.
“The Secretary has addressed this issue many times since last year. She has said this is not happening. Her view has not changed,” Nuland told a daily press briefing.
Clinton told her State Department employees that she was ready to be out of the public eye.
The Secretary also said that she would not serve in President Barack Obama’s second term, if he is reelected, and wants to focus on projects dealing with women and children rights protection.
