New Delhi : The government has many schemes for women from backward classes and minorities but these are not reaching them, Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath said Friday.
Empowerment of the backward classes, particularly women, was vital for the country’s development, she said at a two-day conference here.
The minister spoke at the inauguration of the conference on issues and challenges in the development of women.
“We have come out with many schemes but at times their benefits don’t reach the targeted sections,” she lamented.
“So … NGOs should take this information from the government and make it accessible to the people,” she said.
