NTPC, Himachal to set up engineering college

Shimla : The state-owned National Thermal Power Corp (NTPC) and the Himachal Pradesh government Saturday entered into a pact to jointly set up an engineering college in the state, said an official statement.

A memorandum of understanding was signed for setting up the college in Bilaspur town at the cost of Rs.100 crore, said the statement quoting Chief Secretary Rajwant Sandhu.

The NTPC, which is setting up the 800 MW Kol Dam hydropower project near Bilaspur, some 120 km from Shimla, will contribute Rs.37.5 crore for the college, it said, adding that construction work would start soon.
