Kolkata : A storm hit Kolkata Wednesday evening, uprooting trees, snapping power lines and causing traffic snarls in large parts of south Kolkata, police said.
The evening storm, locally known as ‘Kal-Baishaki’, hit Kolkata around 7.30 p.m.
“Trees were uprooted in Red Road, Mohur Kunj and Chakraberia Road areas. But all the trees have been removed,” said an officer manning Kolkata Traffic Control.
