Hundreds of residents protested against the failure of the Sihani Gate area police to arrest the culprits involved in the rape of a minor girl April 13.

The father of the girl who was present in the procession alleged that due to police apathy, such incidents may again occur in the area.

on April 13, the six-year-old girl was abducted from a grocery shop where she had gone to take her younger brother. She was taken to the terrace of the house of one Udaivir Singh Gadaria where she was raped. Afterwards, she was left near a well. Before fleeing, the rapist threatened the child that she and her family would be eliminated if the incident was reported to anyone.

The girl revealed the incident to her grandmother who took her to the government MMG Hospital where medical examination confirmed the rape.

The girl’s mother reported the matter to the police. The Sihani Gate police registered a case under section 376 of IPC but has failed to nab the culprits so far.

“I hope the police would be able to arrest the culprits within a day or two,” said Prashant Kumar, Ghaziabad SSP.
