Delhi Police Tuesday searched Gopal Kanda’s Civil Lines mansion for an hour. They also raided his farm house.

The team headed by a inspector level officer has taken some papers and CDs into its custody. During the raid, several supporters of Kanda and Haryana policemen gathered at his residence.

The four-member police team recorded statements of family members of Kanda. The team, including a lady constable, refused to comment on the case.

They were seen carrying some files while coming out of Kanda’s Civil Lines house.

“A laptop and computer CDs were also taken into custody from the farm house,” a source said.

Sources close to Kanda said the Delhi Police team had came to serve a notice.

Geetika Sharma, a former flight attendant of the now-defunct MDLR Airlines, hanged herself in her north Delhi’s Ashok Vihar house Sunday and in her suicide note blamed Kanda for her extreme step.

Elected as an Independent legislator from Sirsa, Haryana, in the October 2009 assembly polls, Kanda joined the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in controversial circumstances.

A property dealer-turned-politician, Kanda, a multi-millionaire, was once considered close to former chief minister and Indian National Lok Dal leader Om Prakash Chautala but later fell out with him.

Meanwhile, Aruna Chaddha, who too was blamed by Geetika in her suicide note, Tuesday told reporters here that she got a notice from Delhi Police and would join investigations from Wednesday.
