Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday said a completely harmonious relationship between politicians and the media was not possible.
“If there is complete harmony between the politicians and the media that means neither of us is doing the job honestly,” Omar said at the launch of ‘Kashmir Tribune’, the Valley-centric daily pullout of The Tribune in Srinagar.
The chief minister said the politicians and the media had a love-hate relationship.
“We love to hate each other, but the fact is that we cannot do without each other,” Omar said.
The chief minister also referred to the need of a national daily newspaper being available in the Valley in the mornings.
He said reading a national newspaper had been an afternoon tea pastime for the locals in the past and that too if the weather permitted since daily newspapers are flown into the Valley.
The chief minister also asked the media to be objective and honest while reporting events in a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir.
