Budapest: Hungarian authorities discovered 286 kg of marijuana, valued at about 580 million forints ($2.6 million) in a supposedly “empty” vehicle at a checkpoint on the Serbian border, officials reported Saturday.
The discovery was made Friday in a Macedonian-registered tractor-trailer on entry into Hungary, reported Xinhua quoting Hungarian News Agency MTI.
An X-ray led border authorities to a drum meant to house cables in the bottom of the trailer section over which cement had been scattered to disguise the opening.
The driver, a Macedonian national, was handed over to police.
