Kolkata : Kolkata-based wagon maker Texmaco is looking to expand its footprints in the overseas markets by ramping up its volume of exports to Africa and Bangladesh, a top company executive said Wednesday.
The company, which exports wagons to Ghana and Mali, has recently secured an order from Bangladesh Railways.
“There is intense competitive pressure and that is something we cannot ignore. We are looking at alternative markets like exports,” Texmaco chairman S.K. Poddar told reporters on the sidelines of the annual general meeting of the company here.
“This year we will be exporting to Africa and Bangladesh. We do believe that we have built a very strong relationship with Bangladesh,” Poddar said.
He said the firm would make its best efforts to secure more orders from Bangladesh.
According to the chairman, the wagon marker would export about seven to eight percent of its total wagon production this fiscal.
“Ideally, I would love to have 20 percent of our volume should be in the exports markets,” he added.
