Kolkata : After West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called for cleaning up the city due to a dengue outbreak, Kolkata Municipal Corporation has intensified vigil to prevent the spread of the disease.
The municipal corporation has bolstered its teams to maintain regular and intense vigil in every locality, said a top official of the civic body Thursday.
Teams from building, health, engineering and sewerage departments are monitoring maintenance of cleanliness, identifying larvae breeding spots and prevent accumulation of stagnant water, the official said.
Additional manpower has also been provided to teams in every borough.
“Keep your area clean. Be responsible, wherever you are and whoever you are,” Banerjee had said Tuesday.
“Don’t let water accumulate. Keep a dustbin to gather waste and give it to civic staff when they come to your house or locality,” she had said.
