Surajkund (Haryana) : A sulking former BJP chief minister B.S.Yeddyurappa skipped the party’s national executive meet here Wednesday, indicating division in the party’s Karnataka unit.
Recently, Yeddyurappa, who wanted to return as chief minister, was checkmated by the party’s central leadership which had installed Jagdish Shettar as a compromise candidate in place of V.S.Sadanand Gowda, a former protege of Yeddyurappa.
Shettar is attending the national executive and will be here for the party’s national council meet Sep 27-28.
Karnataka, where the BJP came to power for the first time in a southern state in 2008, will see assembly polls mid-2013.
Yeddyurappa was forced to exit as chief minister of Karnataka when corruption charges were levelled against him.
