“Are L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharati ready to accept, in the court, their crime in the demolition of Babri mosque?” Digvijay Singh asked. He said BJP leaders should first own up their “crime” to give some substance to their attempts to reach out to minorities.

Singh also said the BJP had not taken action against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi following the 2002 riots in the state.

Singh’s remarks came a day after Advani’s speech at the BJP’s national meet in Surajkund, where he called for reprojection of the party’s commitment to secularism.

Advani assured the minority community that the BJP does not support discrimination on the basis of religion.
