Srinagar : Four Hizbul Mujahideen guerrillas were arrested from Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir and huge quantity of arms, including four AK-47 rifles, recovered, police said Sunday.
“The Hizbul Mujahideen outfit received a sever jolt in its attempts to revive activities in Shopian area when four of its cadres were arrested,” a police officer said.
The “police along with 62 Rashtriya Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force arrested four militants of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit from whose possession huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered which included four AK-47 rifles, 16 magazines and 500 rounds of ammunition,” the officer said.
Few associates of the militants, who used to help them carry out their activities, were also taken into custody.
Meanwhile in another operation in Shopian, police and the Rashtriya Rifles busted a militant hideout at Nallah Dongri near village Chitragam.
“Two SLR rifles without magazines and two .303 rifles without magazines were recovered from the hideout. All the weapons were in a rusted condition,” the officer said.
