Brussels : India and Belgium share very good and problem-free relations, India’s new Ambassador to the EU and Belgium Dinkar Khullar has said after presenting his credentials here.
“We don’t have any issues with the Belgians. There is a great deal of interest in India now than as it was in the past,” EuAsiaNews Sunday quoted Khullar as saying.
Khullar said bilateral relations “are very good and problem-free”.
Khullar presented his credentials to Belgian King Albert II Wednesday, and is to present his credentials to European Council president Herman Van Rompuy Monday.
Belgian King Albert II and Crown Prince Phillipe have visited India in recent years and Crown Prince Phllipe is to pay another visit to India next year.
Khullar said a major cultural festival called Europalia and focussed on India will be held in Belgium next year.
“An ambitious programme is being drawn. We may also have a business component in that.
“It will be the biggest single event we will be undertaking in 2013 anywhere in the world. This is a signal to the importance that we attach to Belgium,” Khullar said.
Khullar served as India’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and Austria before being posted to Brussels.
