The Lav-Kush Ramlila Committee near the historic Red Fort in old Delhi, plans to blow away the crowds with a host of audio and visual special effects.

“The effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad are all above 100 feet tall. When Lord Rama’s fire-tipped arrows pierce through their hearts, they will emit fire from the mouth and their ornaments will change colour,” Arjun Kumar, secretary of Lav-Kush Ramlila Committee, told IANS.

“As the effigies collapse on the ground, they will chant Rama’s name,” he added.

According to Kumar, while Hanuman will be flying in the air with a ‘sanjeevani booti’, during the Rama-Ravana fierce battle their swords will emit sparks each time the blades clash against each other.

“Special lights have been brought in from Mumbai to enhance the effects,” he said.

Meanwhile, the celebrations can also be viewed live on internet by logging onto www.lavkush.com.

Adding to the festivities would be the presence of stars from the big as well as small screen.

“The star cast of film ‘Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal’ as well as popular show ‘Ramayan’ aired on Zee TV will be here,” said Kumar.

The Nav Shri Dharmik Lila Committee, which holds its Ramlila opposite to Lav-Kush Ramlila, has set up an 18 feet by 36 feet LED screen as a backdrop on the stage and shots from the original Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana are being used.

“For Sita’s ‘swayamvar’, we have a hydraulic stage and ‘Sita Haran’ and Hanuman carrying a sanjeevani booti will all take place in the air,” said Hari Chand Agarwal, president of the Nav Shri Dharmik Lila committee.
