Agra : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav visited Agra Sunday afternoon and ended up disappointing a lot of people.
Akhilesh Yadav came, delivered a 30-minute speech at the Telegraph Ground about his government’s achievements in the past six months, and flew back to his ancestral village of Saifai in Etawah district.
Samajwadi Party (SP) workers and social activists as well as senior district officials were waiting to interact with the chief minister, some wanting to present memoranda about the power situation in the city, others to complain about the state of roads and corruption.
But the chief minister had no time for them. This has not only caused a degree of resentment but disappointed many of his supporters, people said on the sidelines of the public meeting.
Akhilesh talked about the Agra-Lucknow Expressway project, the Kanya Vidhya Dhan scheme, unemployment dole and other schemes for various sections, but for Agra he had no concrete announcements to make.
“We were anxiously waiting for some announcement on the air connectivity front and relief to various industries, but the chief minister had no time,” said tourism industry leader, Rakesh Chauhan.
