Jammu : Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi wants to strengthen the party at the grassroots and is not interested in any government position, union Minister of State for Communications Sachin Pilot said here Thursday.
“The prime minister on several occasions has offered Rahul Gandhi to join the cabinet, but he is not interested in any such post. He wants to strengthen Congress at the grassroots level and strike an emotional chord with the youths of the country,” Pilot told reporters at a Jammu University function.
On allegations of corruption levelled by activist Arvind Kejriwal against BJP president Nitin Gadkari, Pilot said: “The reply given by him (Gadkari) was not at all satisfactory. Since he himself has said he is ready for an inquiry, so I feel there should be a thorough investigation into the allegations.”
He said authorities should take cognizance of the matter and start the probe.
On Kejriwal, Pilot said the activist has decided to launch a party with “a negative agenda”.
Kejriwal conducted his own trials with no faith on any procedure, the constitution or parliament, said Pilot.
