Verma, wife sent to judicial custody till Nov 30

New Delhi : Various courts of Delhi Friday extended the judicial custody of businessman Abhishek Verma and his Romanian wife till Nov 30 in several criminal and corruption cases lodged against them by different agencies here.

Verma and Anca Maria Neascu’s custody was extended by Special CBI Judge Sanjeev Jain in two separate cases of corruption and forgery registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against them.

In an another case of money laundering lodged against the couple by the Enforcement Directorate, Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar extended their judicial custody till Nov 30. Both cases were listed in the Patiala House court complex.

In the Tis Hazari court, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidya Prakash also extended the custody of couple till Nov 30 in a case registered against them by the CBI under the Official Secrets Act.

The CBI June 9 arrested Verma and his wife for allegedly receiving money from a Swiss arms company to stall the blacklisting proceedings initiated against it by the Indian government.

They were booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
