Ajmer: Dewan and Sajjada Nashin (current head) of the shrine of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan, has strongly criticised the demolition of an old historic temple in Pakistan’s business capital Karachi.
A hundred year old Shri Rama Pir Mandir, and adjoining houses were hurriedly demolished in Karachi’s Soldier Bazar by a builder on Saturday despite a court hearing on a petition seeking to stay such move.
Khan, who is descendant of the great Sufi saint, has called such an act against the basic tenets of Islam. He further urged the Indian Government to officially register protest against such a sensitive issue concerning Hindu minority in the neighbouring country.
He also urged the Pakistani establishment to provide adequate security to the minorities and their places of worships.
Khan has termed the demolition shameful as the case pertain to the heritage temple is continuing in the court of law.
He also urged the Pakistani administration and its people to refrain from such actions that may spoil the communal harmony in other countries.
Arguing that minorities are not secure in Pakistan, he demanded that the government should take adequate measure to maintain religious freedom and security of minorities in that country.
He also suggested to the government in Pakistan to enact laws similar to the Place of Worship Act, 1992 passed by India to protect all religious places.
