Five firms cleared for iron ore prospecting in Chhattisgarh

Raipur : As many as five companies have been granted prospecting licences (PL) for iron ore in Chhattisgarh during 2011-12 and 2012-13 fiscal years, the state assembly was told Tuesday.

In a written reply to Congress member Mohammed Akbar, Chief Minister Raman Singh said the licences were awarded by the central government to five private companies for prospecting iron ore in Bastar region besides in Balod and Rajnandgaon districts of the state.

He informed the house that no company was given iron ore mining rights in the state during fiscal years 2011-12 and 2012-13.

Singh added that applications of eight companies for prospecting licences were pending before the central government besides one application for iron ore mining licence.
