When asked regarding the news report, MYL State President PM Sadiquali told TwoCircles.net that ‘Madhyamam has this habit of publishing such stories’. On asked to clarify his stand on whether the news report in Madhyamam is true or not, he replied saying that nobody until now has given any details to Madhyamam regarding the discussions that took place in the MYL state executive meeting. It is true that we have discussed so many things concerning the organisation and now I prefer not to make a comment on whether there is some truth in their report or not.

MYL state General Secretary CK Subair on asked about the report replied, “We have discussed many organisational things and there were no harsh criticisms against anybody as reported in the Madhyamam story. It is true that there were some voices like, the Kerala State MYL committee should have been consulted prior to the declaration of the National Organisation Committee and such discussions are part of an organisation having democratic nature. The daily’s report that the executive meeting passed resolutions criticising the state and central govt is in a way true, as the state executive meeting have put forward our anxieties in the form of resolutions asking the central and state govt’s to correct themselves with regard to the unjust illegal detention of Muslim youths all across the country and other issues of discriminations against the minority community.”

The Madhyamam daily story by Umar Puthiyottil had mentioned that the state executive meet went furious against E Ahmed’s autocratic declaration of MYL National Organising Committee. As Kerala is the only state where MYL have been functioning quite systematically, the meeting observed that the declaration of the organising committee without even consulting Kerala MYL or other national level members is ridiculous, the report says.

The other criticisms raised by MYL leaders according to the daily are that the recently held National Executive Council meet of IUML at Kozhikode on Dec 2nd and 3rd too turned a failure in facilitating democratic discussions. The daily says, the MYL leaders went on to criticise E Ahmed’s poor performance as a union minister.

Madhyamam report further mentions that everybody in the 80 member organisational meeting of the state executive expressed their anguish against Ahmed and the only exception was the MSF state president TP Ashraf, who attended the meeting as an ex-officio member. Ashraf was the only member found supporting Ahmed in the organisational level meeting of the state executive, the daily says.

PM Sadiquali who was unwilling to refute the allegations made by the Madhyamam, according to the daily was found saying that E Ahmed’s declaration of the National Organising Committee as against the Party rules and democratic values. The report says that he gave an obvious warning saying that, their present silence before media is out of their love for the party.

According to the daily, MYL state General Secretary CK Subair in his welcome speech said that the IUML national President’s actions are without taking into consideration the future of the organisation.

The daily reports that it was the MYL Kannur District Secretary PC Subair who came up with the harshest criticisms against Ahmed. The daily quotes PC Subair of accusing Ahmed as one who always went unsuccessful in recommending the right persons to organisational leadership. He accused that Ahmed is making attempts to disrupt the Party’s age old systematic procedures with regard to the selection of organisational leaders and office bearers.

The other major criticisms according to the daily was raised by MYL Wayanad District leaders as the President Yahya Khan and Secretary Ismail Wayanad raised the issue of Union minister of state for external affairs – E Ahmed’s negligent approach towards the MCD – Wayanad. The Passport cell of the district inhabited by 27 percent Muslims is now not functional and they accused E Ahmed of not taking any actions despite being the external affairs minister and the issue being brought to his notice several times, says the daily.

The daily concludes its report saying that the MYL state executive meeting got dispersed on deciding that these issues, opinions and suggestions raised will be brought to the notice of IUML leadership.

The daily’s report though termed as having false allegations by the MYL state leaders gains credibility considering the fact that, on 20th June this year the IUML and MYL workers went on to burn the effigy of E Ahmed in front of the IUML Kannur district Headquarters, as a way of expressing their protest against the announcement of IUML Kannur district committee, without even calling a district council meeting. The angry IUML workers after this incident went onto the extent of trying to manhandle top district and state leaders, as they considered the announcement of the district committee unjust. The district committee meetings in Kannur were held under Police security since these incidents.
