The agreement was signed in Lhasa at the sixth session of the China-Nepal tourism joint coordinating committee, which was convened Monday, Xinhua reported.

The two sides agreed to promote tourism development and cooperation as well as the opening-up of ports and resumption of direct passenger land transport between Lhasa and Kathmandu.

Nepal has witnessed a steady rise in Chinese tourists since the Himalayan country became a tourism destination for Chinese citizens in 2001.
