Pasmanda leader Ali Anwar seeks reservation for Dalit Muslims and Christians

New Delhi: Speaking in the Upper House of the parliament today Ali Anwar Ansari, President of the All India Pasmanda Muslim Mahaz and JDU leader said that Pasmanda Muslims are Dalits first and then Christians or Muslims.

Ali Anwar was speaking during the debate over quota in promotion for SC/ST. he urged the Dalit leaders to broaden their heart and horizon and to include Dalits from amongst Christians and Muslims. He reiterated that change of religion has not really changed the socio-economic conditions of backward Muslims.

He also rejected the idea of reservation for all Muslim, as demanded by leaders like Ram Vilas Paswan, Mulayam Singh Yadav, besides several Muslim leaders, calling it against constitution.

Pashmanda Muslim Mahaz is a social reform movement aimed at emancipation and larger assertion of rights of backward Muslims that include those Muslims equivalent to Hindu OBCs, the Ajlafs, and those equivalent to Hindu SCs, the Arzals.
