Police searches Russian football fans’ union office

Moscow: Police have raided the office of the All-Russia Fans Union during the investigation of a shooting incident Dynamo Moscow soccer club base.

According to the Sport-Express daily, the incident happened in October at Moscow Dinamo’s training base in Moscow region where unidentified attackers fired several shots from paintball guns to players and coaches leaving several wounded, reports Xinhua.

The hooligans also threw leaflets with threats and insults targeting the club’s foreign players. A criminal case was opened under the hooliganism article.

Head of the All-Russia Fans Union, Alexander Shprygin told reporters the police also searched his apartments and seized personal computers. Shprygin said his relatives apartments were also searched.

“I have informed the Dinamo club and the Russian Football Union heads about that,” Shprygin said.

Shprygin has been a founder and head of the All-Russia Fans Union since 2007.

In November, during a game between Dinamo and St. Petersburg’s Zenit soccer club in Khimki near Moscow, unidentified fans threw a firecracker to the Dinamo goalkeeper injuring his eyes.

Following that incident, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has proposed strict laws to restrict unruly fans.
