Chaliha reportedly misbehaved with the journalists inside the Rajiv Bhavan, the Congress headquarters in the city.

The incident took place when some journalists from the electronic and print media asked Chaliha about the ongoing conflict in the state Congress.

Chaliha, a former Lok Sabha member from Guwahati, got agitated and rebuked the journalists.

Chaliha’s son, Arkashis Chaliha — also a Congress worker — threatened the journalists with dare consequences.

Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) lodged a formal complaint against the Congress leader with state Congress chief Bhubaneswar Kalita, who is a Rajya Sabha member.

The EMFA urged Kalita and Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to take necessary action.
