Abu Dhabi shows rise in hotel guests

Abu Dhabi : Abu Dhabi last year received over two million hotel guests, an increase of 13 percent over its 2011 performance.

A total of 2,388,023 guests were registered in 136 hotels and hotel apartments, said the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.

Hotel revenues were up by six percent to 4.6 billion dirhams ($1.2 billion).

Guests from China, the Philippines and India accounted for the enhanced performance from Asia, which rose 28 percent year-on-year.

In 2012, Britain was Abu Dhabi’s largest international source market delivering 140,393 hotel guests.

India was the second largest source market with 138,768 hotel guests, with Germany taking third place with 96,802 guests.
