The incident occurred Wednesday midnight in Sahibabad. On Ajay Katara’s complaint, an attempt to murder case was registered against nine unidentified people, said Superintendent of Police City Shiv Shankar Yadav.

In his complaint, Ajay Katara said that Wednesday night he, along with his security guard, was returning to his residence in Ashok Vatika when the attack took place.

In a trial held in Delhi, Ajay Katara’s testimony helped the prosecution get the accused convicted in the case.

Vikas Yadav, son of Uttar Pradesh politician D.P. Yadav, was convicted in 2008 along with his cousin Vishal for kidnapping and murdering Nitish Katara, a close friend of his sister Bharti. Both are serving life terms in the Tihar jail.

The duo killed Nitish Katara, son of an Indian Administrative Service officer, on the night of Feb 17, 2002 after abducting him from a marriage party in Ghaziabad as they were opposed to his relationship with Bharti.
