New Delhi: Police Wednesday filed a status report in the Delhi High Court in the case of a seven-year-old HIV positive boy’s allegation that he was sexually abused by older inmates and a guard at a government home.

The report filed by standing counsel Pawan Sharma said that Child Welfare Committee (CWC) investigated into the case and the children told it that guard Amandeep used to beat them with sticks.

“After the investigation of the CWC, the contractor terminated the guard from service and he ran away to his native place in Ranchi,” Sharma said.

“A notice has been served for ensuring Amandeep’s presence here on March 21 and thereafter we will investigation the sexual abuse allegations against him,” Sharma, who appeared for police, told the court.

A division bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Indermeet Kaur posted the matter for April 16 and asked counsel to file a detailed report.

Since the guard went to his village in Ranchi, a message was also sent to police in Ranchi, counsel said in the report.

The bench earlier asked police to find out the reason why the victim was making allegations against other inmates at the home.

The court took cognizance of media reports that said three boys at the government-run Ashiana Home for Boys in Alipur in north Delhi sexually abused the victim.

The boy’s mother died of AIDS and his stepfather – also HIV positive – is lodged in Tihar Jail for raping his daughter.
