New Delhi : A Safdarjung Hospital doctor, who headed the intensive care unit where the Delhi gang-rape victim was first treated, Monday deposed in a court here. His colleague, who attended to her injured male friend, also gave a statement.
Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna recorded the statement of doctor P.K. Verma, who was in-charge of the intensive care unit where the Dec 13, 2012, gang-rape victim was treated for 10 days.
The gang-raped 23-year-old physiotherapy intern died Dec 29 in a Singapore hospital, where she was taken from Safdarjung Hospital for treatment.
Sachin Bajaj, another medical officer from Safdarjung, deposed in the court.
Bajaj had prepared the medical report of the gang-rape victim’s 28-year-old male friend and software engineer.
He prepared the medico-legal case (MLC) of the software engineer and noted his statement after he was rushed to hospital along with the gang-rape victim.
The fast-track court is recording statements of prosecution witnesses on a daily basis.
The proceedings have been abated against prime accused Ram Singh as he is dead.
The other four accused in the case are Ram Singh’s brother Mukesh, fruit seller Pawan Gupta, gym instructor Vinay Sharma and bus cleaner Akshay Thakur.
The sixth accused is a juvenile, lodged separately, and his case is being heard by the Juvenile Justice Board.
