The Prosecutor General’s Office said that acting as part of a criminal gang, Col. Vladimir Otinov, former chief of the Russian Navy’s Air Force and Air Defense Force Logistics Directorate, in 2008 illegally classified a number of aircraft missiles and anti-submarine bombs as decommissioned ammunition to be scrapped.

He then sold them to a company for 450,000 rubles (about $15,000).

All the stolen ammunition has been recovered, it added.

Otinov confessed to the crime and actively cooperated with the investigation.

The court also ordered him to pay a fine of 30,000 rubles (about $1,000).
