New Delhi : India and France further strengthened bilateral military cooperation during a two-day meeting that concluded here Tuesday.
The 10th India-France High Committee On Defence Cooperation (HCC) meeting discussed joint exercises, high-level visits, transfer of technology and activities relating to co-development and co-production.
Defence secretary Vijay Singh and Thierry Borja de Mozota, ministerial representative of the French defence minister, headed their respective delegations at the two-day talks held in an atmosphere of frankness and mutual understanding, an official statement said.
Three sub-committees also met on the sidelines of the HCC.
The sub-committee on military cooperation charted a plan for service-to-service activities during the forthcoming year while the sub-committee on strategic issues discussed matters of mutual strategic interests.
The committee on defence industry procurement and research and technology discussed matters of transfer of technology, joint development, production and research.
The minutes of the three sub-committees were ratified in the HCC meeting, the statement said.
A bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) related to the supply of defence equipment already exists between the two countries, which was signed with France in January 1982 in the context of the sale of Mirage aircraft.
The MoU aimed at ensuring uninterrupted supply of defence equipment, services and related technology from France to India.
