Sukhbir Badal announces Rs.10,000 crore plan for Punjab villages

    Ludhiana : Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal Friday announced a Rs.10,000 crore development plan for villages in the state as 3,062 newly elected representatives of panchayat and district councils took oath here.

    Badal administered oath to 2,731 newly-elected members of 146 panchayat samitis (Panchayat councils) and 331 members of 22 zila parishads (dsitrict councils).

    Calling upon the members to help in the growth and development of rural areas, he said that the Punjab government had finalized a massive development plan of Rs.10,000 crore for 13,047 villages of the state and all villages will get a facelift in the next four years.

    He said that development plan of villages would envisage concrete sub lanes, 100 percent water and sewerage connectivity, sewerage disposal and solid waste disposal plans besides relining of ponds of the villages.

    Badal said that computer-based services will be made available in all villages for convenience of residents.
