Bill for new system of appointing judges gets cabinet nod

    New Delhi : The cabinet Thursday gave its nod to the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) Bill, which seeks to replace the existing collegium system for judicial appointments to the Supreme Court and high courts, a source said.

    The commission is expected to give the government more say in the appointment of judges of the Supreme Court and the 24 high courts.
