Afra Martinelli, 78, from the northern Italian town of Ciliverghe, died in a local hospital 12 days after the savage Sep 26 attack at her home, which left her in a coma.

Colleagues found Martinelli the morning after the suspected robbery lying face down on the floor in a pool of blood flowing from a gaping wound in her neck.
