“Yes, I am planning to fill up my nomination for this constituency. It will later go through scrutiny and approval process before my name is approved and finalised,” Gandhi told IANS.

Gandhi said the names of all Lok Sabha candidates, including his, would be announced only by Jan 20 when the first list of 20 nominees will be released by the AAP Maharashtra unit.

“We plan to contest all the 48 constituencies in Maharashtra. But this is provided we get good candidates,” he added.

Gandhi – who announced his plan on twitter – has become the first AAP candidate to declare his candidature for the Lok Sabha election in Mumbai.

His party colleague and anti-corruption activist Anjali Damania has said she will take on former Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari from Nagpur.

Gandhi had said Monday evening that the AAP will put up strong candidates against the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders in the state.

Before the launch of AAP, Gandhi was the Mumbai convenor of India Against Corruption and close to Gandhian activist Anna Hazare.
