Baghdad : Iraq’s Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has returned to Baghdad on Saturday after spending a week in London for medical tests, Iraqi official television reported.
“Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has returned to the country on Saturday morning from London after having medical tests there,” the Iraqi state-run channel said.
The medical tests showed that Maliki is in good health, the channel said.
Maliki was well-received in Baghdad’s airport by senior officials and top Iraqi military commanders while dozens of people gathered there, the Iraqi television showed in a footage.
The prime minister flew to Britain on Dec. 29 for what his office said he was suffering from fatigue caused by his heavy workload.
A Maliki spokesman said earlier the prime minister had conducted two days of routine checkups in a London hospital. In a message aired from London on the New Year occasion, Maliki said “I would like to reassure everybody that I am in good health.
