Gurgaon : Two policemen were Sunday suspended after they were caught on camera implicating a man in a molestation case and forcing him to pay up to settle the issue with the complainant woman, police here said.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Rakesh Kumar and head constable Brahmprakash, posted at the DLF Phase 3 police post, were suspended.
A woman in her mid-20s, working in a pub here, had filed a complaint of molestation against her landlord Udaypal of Nathupur village, police said.
“Udaypal asked her (the woman) to vacate the room as she along with another woman and a man quarrelled with her neighbours under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
The woman allegedly threatened Udaypal that she will file a false case and demanded Rs.1 lakh to settle the issue. She also demanded Rs.20,000 for the police.
Friends of Udaypal secretly recorded on their mobile phones the video of the two policemen asking the man to settle the issue or face action. The friends then submitted the video recording to senior police officials.
“We have suspended the accused policemen and ordered a departmental inquiry against them,” police said.
