Government okays Rs.12,500 crore-worth pending transmission projects

New Delhi: In a bid to fast-track construction of high capacity inter-state transmission lines, the power ministry has approved nine projects aggregating Rs.12,500 crore that been stuck pending approvals.

“These projects were mainly stuck in the approval process in the government since last several months. The approval to go ahead with implementation was granted immediately”, the power ministry said in a statement here Thursday.

The projects will benefit states like Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra by enabling high capacity 765 kv lines carrying up to 2,100 MW each and construction of new 765/400kv sub-stations, the statement added.

The ministry said the projects will be developed through tariff-based competitive bidding process inviting participation from all bidders including the private sector.
