Madrid : The president of the Spanish government, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero will meet in Paris with French leader, Nicolas Sarkozy, next Thursday explained an official release.
The main subjects of the twentieth French-Spanish summit will center on cooperation against terrorism, interconnection of electricity between the two countries and the process of European integration.
The communique from the Spanish presidency considers the current ties with France excellent, and refers to a recent announcement by Paris about the creation of a permanent joint investigation team to act against terrorism.
Regarding the jointly built high-tension line between both countries, opposition has been noted from environmentalists.
Also analyzed was the initiative on rail connection, sea transportation and construction of a tunnel under the Pyrenees, according to the official note.
The trade subject will be one of the central points of the agenda since France is the first client and second supplier in Spain while the French are second place buyers and fourth suppliers of the Spanish.
Spain is the preferred destination of French tourists with more than nine million visitors reported for 2007.
