New Delhi : India has a chance to rise to its glory of the past, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who says he has a clear roadmap to channelise the capability of India’s people.
In an exclusive interview to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, Modi said the present era belongs to Asia, and India and China were both growing rapidly with their contributions to global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) having grown parallel to each other.
“If you see the details of the last 5-10 centuries, you will see that India and China have grown at similar paces. Their contributions to global GDP have risen in parallel, and fallen in parallel. Today’s era once again belongs to Asia. India and China are both growing rapidly, together,” he said, when asked if India could match up to the GDP growth achieved by its neighbour.
Modi said he has a lot of faith in the capabilities of Indians.
“It is my absolute belief that Indians have unlimited talent. I have no doubt about our capabilities. I have a lot of faith in the entrepreneurial nature of our 1.25 billion people. There is a lot of capability. And I have a clear roadmap to channel it,” Modi said, according to CNN-IBN network.
He said India does not need to become anything else.
“India must become only India. This is a country that once upon a time was called the ‘golden bird’. We have fallen from where we were before. But now we have the chance to rise again,” the prime minister said.
