‘Israel stands with India in its fight against terrorism’

New Delhi : Remembering the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, which included four of its citizens, Israel Wednesday said it will always “stand with India” in its fight against terrorism.

In an official statement on the sixth anniversary of the attacks, Ambassador of Israel to India, Daniel Carmon said: “Today, we join the people of India in remembering the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. Our thoughts are with the families, of those who lost their lives, and with the survivors, who carry physical and emotional scars.”

“We appreciate the efforts put in by the people, the government and the security forces of India in their tireless efforts to fight and eliminate terror. I wish for the people of India, of Israel and elsewhere around the world, to live their lives peacefully and not under the constant threat of terror.”

“Fighting terror is a global mission and Israel has, is and will always stand with India and with all nations, who stand up against terror,” the ambassador said.

As many as 166 people were killed in the Nov 26-28 Mumbai terror attack, in which 10 gunmen from Pakistan sneaked into India and went on a killing rampage.

The terrorists attacked a Jewish centre and killed its caretakers — Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife, Rivka Holtzberg, along with four guests. Their infant son, Moshe Holtzberg, was rescued during the attack by his Indian nanny.

The centre, located in Nariman House, was reopened in August this year after the renovations were completed.
