Earthquake of 4.7 magnitude hits Spain and Portugal – no damage

Lisbon/Madrid : An earthquake registering 4.7 points on the Richter scale rocked southern Portugal and south-western Spain on Friday without causing injuries or significant damage, the
authorities said, according to dpa.

The epicentre of the night-time tremor was nearly 100 kilometres off the Portuguese coast in the Atlantic.

Frightened citizens called rescue services on feeling furniture move and windows vibrate.

The quake was followed by several aftershocks, which went unnoticed.
