Kozhikode: An Indo-Arab Foundation will be opened soon at Kozhikode to enhance the relations between India and Arab countries, said the League of Arab States Mission Indian ambassador Masim Al-Masoudi here on Monday.
Calling for measures to strengthen the Indo- Arab cultural exchange, Masim said, “It is the need of the hour to enhance the relations between India and Arab countries to enable the cooperation in various sectors. The Indo-Arab Foundation will be opened here soon to attain that goal.”

Delivering the presidential address, Calicut University vice chancellor M Abdul Salam said the exchange of Arab and Indian cultures can achieve peace and development. “Development gained by the state in the economical, educational and cultural scenario owes much to the Arab countries. Petro-dollars from Arab countries have played a major role in Kerala’s development,” Abdul Salam said.
“In turn, we can open a new world of cooperation with Arab countries through farm tourism, eco tourism, herbal tourism and rain tourism,” he said.
Prominent UAE writer Mariyam Hassan Ali Ibrahim Al- Shanasi, University registrar T A Abdul Majeed, A B Moitheen Kutty and Hussain Madavoor also attended the event.
