Tehran : Iran has called on the UN Security Council to return the country’s nuclear dossier to the world body’s nuclear watchdog, the country’s official IRNA news agency reported Wednesday.
“The UN Security Council should return Iran’s nuclear dossier to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which is supervising the country’s nuclear programme,” Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Tuesday.
Mottaki made the statement during a meeting with Ruprech Polenz, the chief of German parliament’s foreign policy commission, who is on a working visit to the Islamic country.
During their meeting the Iranian minister said his country has adopted a transparent approach on its nuclear case and remained committed to its obligations towards the IAEA.
“Iran believes in dialogue to resolve issues based on justice,” Mottaki said, adding that Iran’s nuclear case has remained with the UN Security Council for no great purpose.
“We have proved that imposition of economic sanctions will have no effects on our country and Iran is determined to get its legitimate rights under any circumstance,” he said.
Polenz said expansion of cooperation between Iran and IAEA and removal of the remaining ambiguities over Tehran’s nuclear issue would leave positive impacts on their relations.
