Kolkata: Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena on Wednesday met district magistrates and took stock of the preparedness ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections slated to be held in the first half of this year.
Saxena, who came to the city on Tuesday, also reviewed the law and order situation and held parleys with chief secretary Basudeb Banerjee and Director General of Police G.M.P. Reddy.
The assembly polls are likely to be held in April-May.
The full bench of the commission visited the state in December and directed government officials, who would be part of the election machinery, to remain “impartial”.
