Bhubaneswar : Orissa Saturday celebrated the 59th Republic Day amid heavy rains.
Despite the showers and cloudy sky, thousands attended the celebrations across the state.
Governor M.C. Bhandare unfurled the national flag at the main Republic Day function here. The rains came about two hours later.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik highlighted the achievements of his government and unveiled the government’s future plans at Cuttack, 26 km from here. It rained as he hoisted the tri-colour at Barabati Stadium.
